Our most famous pupil was John Eric Bartholomew
When he grew up he became a very famous comedian and formed a partnership with a man called Ernie. Can you guess what his professional name was?
Eric was a pupil at Lancaster Road School in the 1930’s. He can be seen in the back row on the far right of the picture above. We are very proud to be associated with this great entertainer who adopted the name of his home town. Eric came back to school shortly before he died to open a school fete. Some of our grandparents can remember him when he lived near the school.
There is now a statue of Eric Morecambe on the sea front and it is a very popular visitor attraction on Morecambe promenade.
