About the Staff
Welcome to Year 6. Mrs S French and Mrs J Feather are the class teachers and are supported by Mrs Culshaw, Mrs Hartford, Miss Walker, Mrs Young and Mrs Askew. We hope to be in our new classrooms soon!
Introduction to the Year
In the Autumn term year 6 study Ancient Egypt and The Vikings. In the Spring term we study Volcanoes and in the Summer we learn about Rivers.
We enjoy at trip to the Lancaster museum to experience a Viking trip. Year 6 get an opportunity to go on a residential trip to York for a week.
We have standard Government tests in May, of each year, which assesses the pupils in Maths, Reading, Writing, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling.
High School links
We have links throughout the year with local high schools and often have visits, taking part in a variety of projects. We spend time completing transition unit projects and visits to pupils’ allocated High Schools, in order to prepare them for the move to High School.
Things to know about Year 6
Literacy homework is set each Tuesday and due in the following Tuesday.
Math’s homework is weekly Mathletics.
Reading is expected to be done at least twice a week and signed by an adult.
We encourage parents to sign their weekly planner.
PE is on a Monday and games lesson is on a Friday.
