In the event of severe weather our main concern is your child’s safety – this extends to arrival into school, playtimes and the end of the school day.
If severe weather is forecast by the Met Office a text will be sent the afternoon before warning that the Winter Weather plan may be put into place for the following day. A message will also be put on the school answer phone and on the website. This will allow parents/carers to plan accordingly as extra time may be needed for the journey into school.
In the unlikely event school has to be closed parents will be notified by text and notification will be given to Bay Radio.
The only access route available to children and parents will be through the school gates at the front of the school off the main road. On arrival at school children will access school via the first set of double doors directly into the school hall. Signage will be put in place to direct children/parents and staff will be on hand to help. All other access routes will be closed. If you child is wearing wellingtons/boots please could you ensure they bring a spare pair of footwear which they can change into once in school.
Members of the Senior Leadership team will assess the suitability of the external play area (including playing fields) for use at playtimes. Teachers will be informed of the availability of the play areas and suitable access arrangements will be put into place. In the event the weather deteriorates and children need to be collected before their normal pick-up time a text will be sent to parents detailing this.
End of the School Day
Unless you receive a text to notify you of alternative pick-up arrangements (either location or time) then please collect your child from their usual place at the usual time.
